The first issue that the patient shall deal with in the hospital is registration, only by which the patient can enjoy the medical service of the hospital, but if it is wrongly registered, not only waste time, but also affect diagnosis.  
Before register, the patient shall, on the basis of his illness, determine to go to the common outpatient department or the emergent ones. Because some differences exist between both of their procedures and doctors, the first one has systemic and detailed treatment procedures, while the second one is good at dealing with some emergencies, such as acute pain, wound, high fever, shock and short of breath, etc. If no emergency need to be disposed, no necessary to register the emergent ones, which shall be replaced by common ones, where the doctor can make a full examination according to treatment procedures, moreover, it has more departments and experienced doctors.

If you decide to register the common outpatient department, which one shall go? The department in small hospitals is usually simple, only including five or six, such as departments of internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics and E.N.T. etc. But with the development of medical science, it is classified more and more specifically, particularly in the big hospitals, only the internal medicine department can be divided into nearly ten kinds, for example, digestion, cardiovascular, nerve，nephrology，respiration, hematology, endocrine and allergy, etc. Based on the name of disease, every specialized subject can be also divided into special-disease out-patient departments, such as coronary disease, hypertension, sugar diabetes and gastric disease, etc. What’s more, according to the level of doctors, every department even contains common and expert outpatient departments. Therefore, the patients shall have some knowledge about their disease before seeing a doctor.   

After judging your disease, register and receive treatment to relevant departments. If the disease is difficult to treat or the result is not very good after many times of treatments, you should go to the expert outpatient department to get better service.

If you still can’t determine which department shall be responsible for your disease, please go to the common ones first, after examination, go to the special-disease or expert outpatient department, or inquire at the consultation counter. If the disease is complex, the counter may also make mistakes, in addition, some disease indeed need some time to observe or examine and confirm department, even need all doctors to consult or transfer to other hospitals, In a word, before determination of the disease and execution of the transfer procedures, you shall visit the doctor you registered for the first time, because he will perform the consultation, which is called “First-Treatment Responsibility System” in the hospital, “First-Treatment” department is just the  one which you registered for the first time.
