The Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery of Beijing You’an Hospital Attached to the Capital Medical University was founded in 1960, mainly engaged in the surgical clinical diagnosis and treatment as well as basic research of hepatobiliary diseases. In 1978, it carried out the first case liver transplantation of Beijing. In March 2003, the Liver Transplantation Center of Beijing You’an Hospital Attached to the Capital Medical University was founded. And in August 2004, the Sino-US Cooperative Center for Liver Transplantation was established through cooperation with Starzl Organ Transplantation Center of University of Pittsburgh in US.
The Center has a team of domestically and internationally famous medical experts in hepatobiliary surgery and liver transplantation represented by Professors Li Ning, Lu Shichun and Zhu Yue. Especially, the Center is experienced in severe end-stage liver disease, liver transplantation treatment for hepatic cancer, and prevention of hepatitis B relapse after liver transplantation. The Center also receives support from Beijing Hepatitis Research Institute, Beijing Training and Treatment Center for Artificial Liver, Beijing Consultation Center for Digestion Endoscopy of Liver Disease, Beijing Consultation Center for Difficult & Complicated Hepatobiliary Diseases, and Beijing Key Lab for Liver Disease. The Center is provided with the most advanced clinical and experimental-only equipment for liver transplantation. It offers safe, optimal and full-course medical service for each hospitalized patient.
